Sheltering Tree

Hello and Welcome to my Blog!  If you are here because of the Creative Blog Hop, thank you for visiting!  I was invited by Lisa Lange to participate in the Creative Blog Hop. Be sure to check out Lisa's beautiful projects on her blog by clicking on her name above.

The project that I chose to show you this morning was the card that I used as my Leadership swap.  I just attended the Stampin’ Up! Leadership event in Orlando this past week.  I had an awesome time catching up with demonstrator friends from all over the US, and met some from other market areas from which Stampin' Up! sells their products as well!  And it was fun learning new ways to use the products in the  2015 Occasions & Sale-a-Bration catalogs.

Since I live in the far west Chicago suburbs, I decided to start my trip out by visiting a friend (also a demonstrator) in Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island at the beginning of the week, then we drove to Orlando for the Leadership conference.  We came back to Fernandina Beach on Saturday evening.  I was supposed to fly back to the Chicago area on Sunday evening, but a snowstorm prevented that from happening!  Ahhh, another day in Florida!  I could not have timed that better!  I am flying back on Monday (hopefully).

This card uses one of the new stamp sets in the 2015 Occasions Catalog, called Sheltering Tree.  I love, love, love this set and hope that it will appear in the big catalog later this year!  I used Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral and Early Espresso for the color theme.  I wanted to make something that could be used for Valentine's Day or for another occasion.  I hope you like it!

Here are my answers to the Blog Hop questions:

1. What are you working on?  After having just attended the Stampin’ Up! Leadership event in Orlando, I’m busy preparing for a class I’m holding in my home this weekend.  I did stay in Florida (Fernandina Beach) with a friend for a day longer than originally intended, due to a snow storm in the Chicago area!  I love attending the Stampin’ Up! events because I get a chance to reinvent myself and be inspired in new ways.

2. How does your work differ from others in your genre?  I love to use layers and embellishments and often use them with my cards.  I do realize that not everyone likes to do that, so I do try to change it up by making simpler cards and projects as well.  My style leans towards more clean lines, but I do like to do vintage every now and then as well as trying out the new products that Stampin' Up! sells.

3. Why do you create what you do?  I have worked in IT for all of my adult life, except for a brief break when I was home with our two sons when they were younger.    When I discovered stamping, it was like a whole new world opened up for me and I have loved every minute of it since!  I discovered that I DO have a creative side, and the Stampin' Up! products allow me to be creative in so many ways.  And, it's really simple!  I have met some very special friends through Stampin' Up! and have been so blessed by those friendships.

4. How does your creative process work?  I love to see what the artists at Stampin' Up! have created using new products and I also like to look through the Stampin' Success magazine for ideas (an exclusive magazine for Stampin' Up! demonstrators).  Then, I just take it from there and modify a design as I like.  I also like to take 3D items and decorate them with Stampin' Up! products to give them a different look.

I hope you will check back with me….  I'll be sharing more soon!
