My Camera broke!

Leaves of A Tree….

Are you wondering where I’ve been?  My beloved camera stopped working!  I fussed with it, had the batteries checked, called Cannon and finally decided to break down and get a new one.  Sigh.  We didn’t have one working camera in the house (my son’s camera is at work), short of using one of our phone cameras which don’t give me the best pictures.  So, I broke down last night and bought a new one!  So far, so good – I just need to learn about all the new settings, etc.

It’s a beautiful fall day here in the Chicago-land area.  We had a little cloudiness earlier in the day and a few sprinkles, but not much at all.  Most of this afternoon has been sunny and just gorgeous with just a few clouds here and there.  It’s around 63 degrees – perfect in my book.  I often say that’s why God placed me in the north!  I really can’t stand hot weather (yes, we had quite a few days in the 90’s this summer), and I lived in Dallas for about 6 1/2 years when I was in my 20’s (just for the adventure!).  But I joke with my husband that we should retire in Alaska!

So, it seemed fitting to post a fall card using the "Leaves of a Tree" A’ la Carte stamp in the Holiday Mini.  Love those single stamps!  We made this card in my class last weekend and we used Stampin’ Pastels to color it.  It’s been awhile since I’ve used them and had to dust them off!  Tip:  Q-tips work great for coloring with the pastels.  I think my customers enjoyed using a different method for coloring and it gives such a soft look to the leaves on the tree. In the background, you can see another one of the beautiful prints from the Spice Cake designer series paper.  Love it.

  1. OK, Wanda…. as much as I’m fighting the end of summer (I’m happiest with 80 degrees) I accepting that it’s time for leaves to turn and the weather to become fall-ish. This is a beatiful card for fall! My classes are this week, so I’ll be sharing some of my new projects soon 🙂

  2. Beautiful card, Wanda!!! The poppin pastels technique works perfectly with this stamp and the Spicecake paper is lovely, as always!!! Stampin Up should sell a pad someday with the most popular papers from each release… this would be one of them I’m sure! I am enjoying the fall weather and temperatures, too 🙂

  3. LOVE this card Wanda! But I do have a question… it looks to me like you actually stamped part of the tree with Soft Suede ink… or are you “:just that good” with the poppin pastel technique? If there was a way to stamp part of it with Soft Suede, then part with Versamark for the poppin part… I’d love to know! OR…was this not the “poppin” thing… rather stamped with Soft Suede and then shaded with pastels… geez… 10 years, you’d think I could figure this one out!
Thanks… it’s really beautiful! Thanks for sharing… I think I saw this in person at Janice’s right?
